day 1, after meeting

[Most people are leaving the opera house by now - Suzaku, meanwhile, has found the stairs to sit at the bottom of and let Rideaux have a look at his foot, with its damages you might expect from swinging a full force kick at a brick wall. He'll be here doing his best not to grimace from it.]

Thanks again for doing this.

[ It's not like he's doing this out of the goodness of his heart; outside of teammates on missions, he only provides services in exchange for money or positive boosts to his reputation. Under the circumstances, the latter seems like it could be especially useful right now, so here we are. ]

Let's just not make a habit of this.

[ He takes off his leather gloves and sets them aside -- it's not like they're easily washable -- before starting his examination. ]

Well, since I can't actually get an image of the bones right now, we're going to do this the old fashioned way. I'm going to put pressure on different points, so give me a 1 to 10 rating of how much each one hurts.

[ He'll start with a few spots around the ankle. ]

And don't round down to try to make yourself look stronger.

[ That shit's annoying. ]

Right.

[ That's exactly why he's starting at the top, since it's not a life threatening injury -- so he's not smearing blood everywhere. He doesn't exactly have a great way of cleaning this up here on these stairs.

Ugh. He's used to inconvenient locations, but he usually at least has much better tools at his disposal. ]

Well, at least the ankle is only sprained. That can be a lot worse depending on the angle you're striking from and the timing of the impact.

[ He's also a spin kick guy, he knows. Moving down along the side now, noting any reactions... ]

What were you really trying to do, anyway? Escape while you thought they were distracted, or actually test how serious they were about punishment?

[ He kind of raises an eyebrow at the massacre part, but it's a much... milder reaction than many people would have to that. ]

Not a completely unreasonable course of action, then, I suppose. You probably did come out of this better than some of the others would have. And personally, I appreciate the additional data.

[ Moving on... He expects fractures to mostly be limited to the phalanges, but metatarsal shaft fractures are certainly still plausible, so he'll be a little more thorough from here out. ]

Thoughts on their announcement?

What, are you one of those "dismantle the system from within" types? I think that ship sailed when you directly opposed them on day one.

[ And certainly making note of that wince and checking that area more closely. Seems like maybe he did break something there after all, hm? It's kind of impressive. ]

Anyway, I'm not sure how well you're going to be able to "move within" anything for a while, so you might need to put your heroic tendencies on pause.
pr159: (or let me put this another way)

[personal profile] pr159 2020-01-09 11:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, their whole display was certainly irritating, though you may have missed the worst of that.

[ Probably not worth this, but, you know. It's an upside. ]

I will say that I'm fairly confident someone will take them up on it. Some of them seemed desperate enough already even without any proof that what they were saying was true.

[ When he gets to the half-torn off, bloody toenail, he pauses. Not because it's gross (although, yeah), but because he feels like maybe he can do something with whatever power they "gifted" him with here, even without knowing very well what it is? Interesting. ]

...Hold on, I'm going to try something here.

[ Words everyone wants to hear from their doctor, surely. ]
pr159: (you can feel history coming about)

[ Wasn't a question, but thanks for the blessing.

Lightly, he touches his fingers to the wounded skin, and concentrates. (This feels pretty stupid, actually, but if it actually works, he guesses he can't complain too much.)

...

Well, half a minute later, the toenail is still hanging off, but the skin has healed up some.

Hm. He hadn't really expected that to work, and in retrospect, maybe he should have tried to seek out some disinfectant before closing up that skin. He's pretty sure Rieze Maxians who heal with spirit artes don't do that, though, and this seems at least slightly more similar to that, so hopefully whatever magic bullshit he just did took care of any germs while it was at it. ]

...Well, I'll have to experiment with that a little more, but good to know.
pr159: (sell us things which are already ours)

[personal profile] pr159 2020-01-13 12:10 am (UTC)(link)
[ Oh yeah, it didn't do a damn thing for the fracture. At least he hadn't expected it to.

(Also, he isn't sure how he feels about using magic.) ]

It does seem like they put at least some thought into it, doesn't it? Do you know what yours is?

[ Hopefully it's something you can cut with, because they're still going to need to manufacture some bandages here to give support to the broken bones once he gets them roughly in place. ]
pr159: (there's much i don't want to remember)

[personal profile] pr159 2020-01-13 01:08 am (UTC)(link)
I'd wondered about that.

[ Nice... He gives a nod of appreciation. Making light seems like it should be especially useful here, so he'll have to keep this in mind.

And the blade should be useful now, so! ]

As long as you have that handy, how attached are you to that cape?
